Leather Bug

I've been enjoying my work with leather.  Boot lace is limp when cut in half.  It's very limp when quartered. ;)

Materials:
  • A 3/8-oz. football jig with a 3/0 black nickel hook.
  • Harbor Freight Powder Paint - brown mixture.
  • Brown saddle hackle feathers (2).
  • Kiwi Leather Boot Lace - dark brown.
  • Rozetti Velvet Chenille Yarn - golden brown.
  • UTC Ultra Thread 140 denier - rusty brown.

  1. Just discovered your web site. Really enjoy your many thought provoking posts. You mention using quartered leather boot laces as legs many times. How do you cut the laces into quarters? Your results look very even.

    1. Thank you very much for your comments. I cut the laces into quarters simply by hand with a pair of sharp craft scissors. I like those under the names Honey Bee or Cutter Bee. They cut straight and easily.

  2. Just bought a pair of Cutter Bee scissors at my local Michaels store and tried your technique. Works great. Thanks.
